Abstract

The integration of religious and modern sciences has remained a central concern in contemporary Islamic scholarship, particularly in the context of education and intellectual development. This study analytically examines the relationship between Islamic teachings and modern scientific disciplines, highlighting the Qur’anic and Prophetic emphasis on knowledge as a means of fulfilling both spiritual and material objectives of life. Drawing upon Qur’anic verses, Hadith, and historical precedents from the early Muslim community, the paper demonstrates how worldly sciences—such as medicine, chemistry, mathematics, and linguistics—can serve as supportive tools for achieving the higher purposes of Shari‘ah when aligned with correct intentions and ethical frameworks. By exploring the principle of al-umūr bi-maqāṣidihā (“matters are judged by their objectives”), the research argues that modern sciences, when pursued with the aim of serving humanity and strengthening faith, transform from secular activities into acts of worship. The findings underscore the necessity of bridging the gap between religious and modern sciences in order to cultivate a holistic educational model that produces individuals who are spiritually grounded, intellectually competent, and socially responsible.
