This research article presents an analysis of the concepts of social pluralism and tolerance within Islamic teachings from historical, exegetical, and social perspectives. The increasing cultural, religious, and linguistic diversity in modern societies has created new challenges for peaceful coexistence. This research demonstrates that Islamic sources (the Quran, Sunnah, and jurisprudence) not only acknowledge pluralism but consider it a part of divine wisdom. Practical models are presented in light of the Constitution of Medina (Sahifah al-Madinah), the civilization of Andalusia (Convivencia), and the Ottoman Millet system. In the modern context, under the framework of Fiqh al-Aqalliyyat (Jurisprudence of Minorities) and Maqasid al-Shariah (Objectives of Islamic Law), social pluralism can be utilized for national unity, prevention of extremism, and interfaith dialogue. The research concludes that intolerance in contemporary Muslim societies is not a flaw of Islam but rather the result of historical and political factors, and that by highlighting the principle of Wasatiyyah (moderation) present in Islamic teachings, internal and external conflicts can be resolved.
