Abstract

The Pashtun society is deeply rooted in a unique set of cultural traditions and social   practices collectively known as (پختونوالی) These traditions, while preserving the identity and cohesion of the Pashtun community, often interact with the religious values of Islam. This research examines Pashtun customs and rituals in the light of Islamic teachings, highlighting points of convergence and divergence. Positive aspects such  as hospitality)مہمان نوازی), honor and dignity (ننگ وناموس, and communal decision-making through Jirga( reflect strong compatibility with Islamic principles of brotherhood, respect, and consultation (Shure). However, practices like blood feuds, excessive expenditures in weddings, and honor-related violence diverge from Islamic injunctions. The study argues that while Pashtun culture possesses many values consistent with Islam, it also requires reform in areas where tradition contradicts Sharia, ensuring a balanced cultural and religious identity for Pashtun society.
