Abstract

This analytical study examines the core concepts of the Feminist Movement in light of the teachings of the Holy Qur'an. The central research questions are: "Are the ideas and demands of feminism compatible with the Islamic concept of womanhood, or do they conflict with it?" and "What practical impacts does feminism have on women, family, and social structures, and how does Islam provide alternative principles? “The research employs a historical and comparative analytical methodology, exploring the different waves of feminism, their ideological foundations, and social implications, followed by a critical comparison with Qur'anic guidance and the Islamic model of society. The findings reveal that although feminism initially raised awareness of certain legal and social rights for women, many of its concepts—such as total gender equality, the slogan “My body, my choice,” the rejection of hijab, and the push to place men and women in identical societal roles—stand in opposition to Islamic teachings. Islam acknowledges the spiritual, ethical, and human equality of women while assigning them distinct but equally valuable roles within natural boundaries. It provides women with rights to education, inheritance, and economic participation while maintaining family balance. The study concludes that modern feminism, by imposing dual responsibilities on women inside and outside the home, has contributed to the weakening of the family structure. In contrast, Islam offers a balanced, dignified, and protective framework that supports not only the woman but also the broader fabric of society.
