This study examines the rights of spouses as fundamental human rights within the framework of Islamic teachings. Islam presents a comprehensive and balanced system of human rights that safeguards the dignity, equality, and moral responsibility of both husband and wife. Drawing upon primary Islamic sources—the Qur’an and Sunnah—along with classical and contemporary juristic interpretations, this research analytically explores the nature, scope, and objectives of spousal rights in Islam. The study highlights key dimensions such as mutual respect, justice, compassion, financial responsibility, personal dignity, and ethical conduct within marital life. It further argues that spousal rights in Islam are not merely legal obligations but are deeply rooted in moral and spiritual accountability, aimed at ensuring family stability and social harmony. By situating Islamic spousal rights within the broader discourse of human rights, the paper demonstrates that Islamic teachings offer a holistic and value-based model that complements contemporary human rights principles while maintaining its distinct ethical foundation. The study concludes that a proper understanding and application of Islamic spousal rights can significantly contribute to the promotion of human dignity, gender justice, and sustainable family structures in Muslim societies.
