Abstract

This research paper presents a comprehensive sociological study of contemporary Urdu fiction through an analytical critique of Ali Akbar Natiq’s seminal novels, Noolakhi Kothi and Kumari Wala. Utilizing a realistic narrative approach and a sharp stylistic execution termed "Nok Nigari", Natiq meticulously uncovers the structural injustices, class struggles, and institutional decay within the Subcontinent, particularly Punjab. Through Noolakhi Kothi, the study explores the sociological impacts of post-colonial transitions, examining how colonial stratagems transformed into modern tools of exploitation wielded by a newly emerged indigenous elite. Shifting to Kumari Wala, the paper analyzes contemporary societal degeneration from 1980 to 2020, focusing on systemic corruption, feudal tyranny, bureaucratic moral decay, and religious exploitation. By stripping away romanticized depictions of rural life, this paper highlights Natiq’s profound ability to mirror the eroding foundational human values under social pressures, positioning his work as a vital sociological document of regional socio-political evolution.
