Abstract

The Wakhan Corridor, a narrow stretch of land connecting Afghanistan with China, has long been a region of strategic importance due to its location and role as a geographical bridge between South Asia, Central Asia, and East Asia. For Pakistan, this corridor presents a unique geopolitical opportunity, as it provides a potential access point to Central Asia’s abundant resources, expanding trade routes, and broader economic integration. However, the question remains: should Pakistan annex the Wakhan Corridor? This paper explores the strategic, economic, and geopolitical implications of such an annexation, analyzing the potential benefits, risks, and challenges from multiple angles. Drawing from historical accounts, geopolitical theories, and contemporary diplomatic perspectives, this research evaluates the geopolitical calculus, economic motivations, security concerns, and potential consequences for regional and international relations.
