Abstract

This research examines the scholarly contribution of Maulana Khalil Ahmad Saharanpuri in explaining and resolving the concept of Mukhtalif al-Hadith through his renowned commentary Bazl al-Majhud fi Hall Abi Dawud. The study highlights the methodological principles adopted by the author in reconciling apparently contradictory narrations, interpreting Hadith texts, and addressing juristic and theological differences among scholars. It further explores how Saharanpuri employed classical principles of Hadith criticism, contextual interpretation, and comparative analysis to remove ambiguities and harmonize narrations in Sunan Abi Dawud. The research also evaluates the academic significance of Bazl al-Majhud in the field of Hadith studies and its impact on later scholarly discussions regarding contradictory traditions. Through an analytical and descriptive approach, the study demonstrates that the work is an important contribution to the science of Mukhtalif al-Hadith and reflects the depth of Indo-Islamic Hadith scholarship.
