Abstract

This study explores the concept of tourism in the context of Islamic teachings, drawing from the Quran. It aims to provide a framework for understanding tourism as a means of spiritual growth, cultural exchange, and economic development, while adhering to Islamic values. The Quran emphasizes the importance of travel and exploration, encouraging believers to reflect on the signs of Allah's creation and to learn from the experiences of past civilizations. This study examines the principles of Islamic tourism, including the promotion of cultural heritage, preservation of natural resources, and support for local communities. It also discusses the concept of "rihla" (journey), which encompasses spiritual, educational, and recreational aspects of travel. The findings of this study suggest that Islamic tourism can be a powerful tool for promoting cross-cultural understanding, fostering community development, and preserving cultural heritage. By embracing the principles of Islamic tourism, Muslims can engage in meaningful travel experiences that enrich their spiritual lives, while also contributing to the economic and social well-being of host communities. This research provides insights for policymakers, tourism stakeholders, and individuals seeking to understand the intersection of faith and tourism. It highlights the potential of Islamic tourism to promote sustainable and responsible travel practices, while deepening one's connection with the divine and the world around them.
