Impacts of Love Marriage on Family Life: A Research Review in the Light of Islamic Teachings

This study presents the impacts of love marriage on family life in the light of Islamic point of views and describes different academic opinions. Islam offers a complete system of life in which the importance of the family is fundamental. The Islamic family is based on love, selflessness, sacrifice, and the fulfillment of rights and duties. Islam has clearly defined the rights and duties of all family members, including the rights of husband, wife, children, and parents. Marriage is given great importance in Islam, it is not only a contract between two people but also a sacred relationship that protects the survival of the human race and chastity. Marriage of convenience is permitted in Islam, but there are certain conditions for it. Both men and women are allowed to see their spouses before marriage. However, for a woman, the permission of the guardian is required. There are differences of opinion among various jurists, but in general, the Hanafi, Shāfi'i, and Hanbali schools have presented their own specific views on this subject. There are some advantages and disadvantages of love marriage. Advantages include freedom of choice of partner, understanding of each other's preferences, and mutual trust. Disadvantages include family boycott ,negative thinking of people about you, financial problems, and unrealistic expectations. There are various reports and studies in favor of arranged marriage that describe its effects.
