Globalization in Urdu Prose Poetry

Abstract

Globalization is a dynamic process through which people, cultures, and economies across the world are becoming increasingly interconnected, transforming the globe into a "global village." While the impacts of globalization are profoundly evident across society, culture, and the economy, literature and poetry have equally been shaped by this phenomenon. In Urdu prose poetry (nasri nazm), the influence of globalization is perceptibly reflected at every level, from intellectual perspectives and thematic orientation to emotional consciousness. Urdu prose poets have actively engaged with global issues, environmental crises, human rights concerns, capitalist structures, militaristic frenzy, and the pervasive effects of technological advancement. Furthermore, they have poetically articulated the psychological dilemmas and spiritual malaise of the modern individual. Through exquisite prose poems, these writers have captured contemporary absurdity, identity crisis, cultural exploitation, existential isolation, shattered dreams, self-skepticism, and unfulfilled desires. This research paper critically analyzes the impacts and manifestations of globalization in Urdu prose poetry.
